Philosophy

My philosophy as a physician is to do the best I can for the patient. We (you and I) are a team. I am a consultant and medically trained. You are the best source of information for me about you. In addition, with your permission, I may consult with your family, friends, and outside experts in a particular field that may apply and help your situation. I am a firm believer in having a sense of spirituality in life. Each human being is kept sane by spirituality, family, friends, health, and security of basic needs.

Within ethical boundaries, my patient's desires are my first priority. I feel very strongly about educating my patients about their illness in order to empower them. As one of my patients aptly stated, "Dr. Schroeder not only treats the physical aspects of a patient, but the emotional ones as well."

One reason I chose to begin a concierge practice is my belief that insurance companies will always profit, the premiums and costs to the subscribers/patients will continue to skyrocket, and the payment to the physicians will continue to diminish dramatically. I realize there are innumerable parasites in the medical system that prey on the insurance industry: pharmaceutical companies, the legal system, unethical physicians, the technology industry, the FDA and hospitals.

Currently I have 245 patients, having commenced my new practice on September 1, 2005. I will accept no more than 400 concierge patients. I do have a few "pro bono" patients, as it is my very strong belief that every physician is morally obligated to help those who cannot afford medical services.
